Xiaoxing Chen (b. 1999) is a Chinese writer-director from Shenzhen, now based in Brooklyn.
Her work delves into the intersections of vulnerability and resilience, often incorporating surrealist elements within everyday, slice-of-life narratives. A quiet person by nature, she finds strength in subtlety, creating films emphasizing the power of silence and the unspoken.
In addition to writing and directing her films, she serves as an Assistant Director on set. She is also the videographer for the Philadelphia Orchestra documentary (produced by Phoenix TV in China), where she has interviewed notable figures such as Nicholas Platt, Gary Graffman and Christoph Eschenbach.
She sheds many tears, which she tries to bury in her films.
